Welcome to Whole Foods 4 Healthy Living where we promote a plant based nutritional lifestyle that is comfortable, economic and above all Healthy! To this end, we focus on Smart Living and Healthy Choices. Much of our approach will involve a 'whole foods & plant based' lifestyle with commentary on our current ability to choose healthy foods, natural medicines and supplements.
Why Plant Based Nutrition? Sometimes the most elegant solution is the most simple. Why plant-based nutrition? Why not? Why develop heart disease? Cancer? Diabetes? The epidemic of chronic, degenerative disease that is sweeping the western world can not only be stopped, it can be reversed. Whole Foods are complete with all their rich natural compliment of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They have not been highly processed nor do they contain synthetic, artificial or irradiated ingredients. They are not genetically modified (non-GMO) to contain pesticide components that have undetermined impacts on the human organism. Whenever possible, Whole Foods for Healthy Living recommends purchasing "organically grown" foods whenever possible, since they not only promote your health, but also the health of our planet.
Unfortunately, many of the freedoms we cherish in the USA have eroded. This includes the freedom to choose how we live and take care of ourselves. The medical community is totally dominated by 'traditional' allopathic medicine. Alternative or homeopathic medicine has been relegated to 'do it yourself' practices. This is due to the dominance of pharmaceutical and drug solutions that treat one disease with one pill/drug/surgery. The focus is on the SYMPTOM, not on the disease and the root cause of the condition.
Our food supply is contaminated by GMO (genetically modified organism) that are PATENTED by huge food production conglomerates. These patented grains often will 'cross-contaminate nearby fields; thus naturally cross-breeding the crops. This is Natures way; but the result is control by the corporate conglomerate by this invasion to neighboring fields. The USA Supreme court has unfortunately upheld many decisions legalizing GMO product patents. More about this later.
Meat and dairy are produced by large corporate food systems that 'treat' the animals with an assortment of drugs, growth hormones, antibiotics and so on. The animals are fed a variety of foodstuffs that are not natural to the animals 'normal' condition. There are many 'grass fed' and 'free range' options that are coming to market but you have to research and find them. We will identify a few of them in later sections; ones we have used and found wholesome and delicious.
The end result of much of this is that we have a plentiful food supply that may not be all that good for us! Naturally and organically grown raw whole foods are becoming more plentiful. This is due to the awakening of the American Consumer and the realization that some of our food supply may in fact be harmful.
Fast foods, sugary drinks, artificial sweeteners and frankly, a lazy lifestyle, has caused the average American to be less healthy than some third world citizens. Yes, we have easy access to a huge variety of foodstuffs, but are they nutritionally good for us? In our opinion, not so much!
